Jessie, starring Debby Ryan, is the first Disney Channel Original Series to begin with a title character who is considered a working adult. In the past, shows original to Disney Channel have only gone as far as to show the main characters graduating from high school, usually with the theme of college and the fear of growing up/becoming an adult being addressed in the finales. Although not the title character, Jackson from Hannah Montana did go on to be a working adult prior to the show’s end, however.
